The following is an excerpt from the book, A Holistic Guide to Online Marketing, by Joey Donovan Guido, owner of Cuppa SEO ...

To ensure your copy packs the most value possible, always do your best to CLEARLY and SUCCINCTLY answer these three “magic” questions on every piece of content you write — from web pages, to blog posts, social, video, etc.:

  1. What is it?
  2. What does it do?
  3. How does it help me (benefits)?

I call them magic questions because they get to the heart of what your content needs to contain.

Google likes relevant content, and just like the human eye, it’s judging your content to determine if it’s rich and relevant, or boring, “thin” and yucky.

Rich content helps each of your web pages and blog posts gain more authority in Google’s eyes, which means better ranking in search results.

Thin content accomplishes the opposite and may lead your website or blog toward what I call the “black hole of Google Panda” — never to be found in organic search results.

The good news is that if you’re taking the time to avoid the yuck factor and create quality content, you site is already partially optimized!

Why It’s Important
This is an important consideration to keep in mind no matter what part of your website you’re working on. Whether it’s SEO, UX or conversion, the more you’re able to make your efforts customer-centric and benefit-driven (addressing those pain points), the better chance you have of building a relationship with each visitor.

This relationship-building philosophy also holds true with your blog and social media campaigns, but more on those in Part 3 and Part 4, respectively.

In essence, when you make your website customer centric, it can naturally help improve the overall user experience of your site. It can also improve your conversion rate, because you’ve clearly defined how you can help.
